The Coordinator of Sick Pikin Project, Ishmael Charles, has commended the Director General and Management of NASSIT for funding the medical treatment of Melvin Jesse Brima at the Max Super Speciality Hospital in India.

Mr. Charles said he was buoyed and gratified by the humanitarian gesture of the Director General, describing it as one of its kind in Sierra Leone, during a courtesy call at the NASSIT headquarters in Freetown on Tuesday, March 9, 2021.

As part of the institution’s continued support  to the Government and people of Sierra Leone in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, the Director General of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT)  on Thursday, 30th April,  2020, donated  the sum of One Billion Leones (Le1,000,000,000) to the National Coordinator of the Emergency Response Committee. This auspicious event which took place at the Emergency Operation Centre at Cockerill in Freetown

The Director General of NASSIT, Mohamed Fuaad Daboh, on Thursday 25th February 2021 joined his staff at the Kailahun District Council Hall to bring to an end a nationwide engagement with the Sierra Leone Police.

This epoch-making event brought together the Minister of Internal Affairs, Honourable Panda Noah, the Inspector General of Police, Michael Ambrose Sovula, the Local Unit Commander of the Kailahun Division, the General Manager of Public Affairs and Events Management, Osman Koroma, the Ag.  General Manager of Operations, Edwin Kamara, Mohamed Sam, Regional Offices Coordinator, and members of the Press. 

The National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) has effected payment of Government Pensioners with a minimum pension amount of Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Leones (Le 250,000.00) This is in fulfillment of the promise made by His Excellency the President, Julius Maada Bio, that effective January 2019, no Government pensioner would earn less than fifty percent of the National Minimum wage. The astute Director General of NASSIT in the person of Mohamed Fuaad Daboh wasted no time in transforming the President's declaration into reality.

A high-powered delegation from the Ministry of Defence and the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) led by the Minister of Defence, Brigadier (Rtd) Kelly Conteh, and the Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Brima Sesay, on Wednesday, 3rd June, 2020 held a meeting with the Director General and senior Management of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust at the Conference Hall of the NASSIT Headquarters in Freetown. The meeting was a follow-up to a letter addressed to the Director General from the Ministry of Defence, highlighting challenges service personnel encounter in their dealings with the Trust. These challenges, among others, border on the irregular update of members’ statements; restrained access to benefits by retired personnel; restrained access to benefits by beneficiaries of deceased personnel; and discrepancies in the personal details of personnel. 

The appointment of the human resource guru, the astute administrator and the people-focused Director General, Mohamed Fuaad Daboh, has brought an astonishing turnaround in the business of the Scheme. In his maiden speech to all the staff of the Trust, the no-nonsense Director-General emphasized his determination to redefine the image of a rapidly diminishing institution. He promised to focus this administration on the core business of the Trust, that is, operations and the payment of benefit.
